How to Find Pre-Seed Angels in Your Country

August 9, 2026 · 3 min read

Finding angels is a different problem from finding credits. Credit programmes publish their rules; angels mostly do not publish anything. The people writing $25,000 cheques in your city are findable, but not by searching for them directly.

Where they actually are

In rough order of how reachable they are:

Angel networks and syndicates

Most countries and many cities have at least one organised network. They exist to be found, they usually have an application form, and they are the single most efficient starting point. Search for the network rather than for individuals.

Founders one round ahead of you

The most underused route. Founders who raised a seed round 12 to 18 months ago know exactly who wrote their first cheques, are usually happy to say, and are far more approachable than the angels themselves. This is the highest-yield hour you can spend.

Accelerator alumni networks

Even without joining a programme, alumni are often visible and often angel-invest themselves once they have exited or raised.

Operators at local companies that exited

People who have had a liquidity event and stayed in the ecosystem. Rarely advertise, almost always reachable through a mutual connection.

Approaching them without a warm intro

Cold outreach to angels works more often than founders expect, and it fails for predictable reasons.

What works:

  • Specificity. Name why THEM: something they invested in, wrote or said that connects to what you are building.
  • Traction over narrative. One concrete number beats a paragraph of positioning.
  • A clear, small ask. "Would you take 20 minutes" converts. "Are you interested in investing" does not.
  • Brevity. Under 150 words. They read on a phone.

What does not:

  • A deck attached to a first email.
  • "Revolutionary", "disrupting", "the Uber of".
  • A blast that is visibly a blast.

The country question

Angel availability varies enormously by market, and generic advice ignores that. If you are in a market with a thin angel base, two adjustments help:

  1. Look for diaspora investors. People from your country based in the US, UK or UAE who invest back home. This is a real and substantial pool that no list captures well.
  2. Consider remote-friendly syndicates. Several now invest globally and explicitly look outside the usual hubs.

What we can and cannot show you

Straight about this, because it differs from the rest of our catalog: our investor and angel directory is the one part that requires an account. Credits and accelerators are fully public and always will be. Investor data is the paid differentiator, and full detail on any specific angel or network needs a login.

What is free: the eligibility check, the entire credits and accelerators catalog, and the country guidance.

Before you start

Raising from angels at pre-seed is usually slower than founders expect, and credits are faster. If your constraint is runway rather than validation, the credit programmes are the shorter path: no dilution, no meetings, and mostly decided in weeks. Our eligibility check tells you what you qualify for in about a minute.

If you are raising anyway, do both. The credit stack extends the runway you are raising against, which is a better story than needing the round to cover infrastructure.
